TRIBUTE TO THE HISTORY OF ART
JANUARY 2023
The leitmotif of the entire mural is the painting "The Wanderer on the Sea of Fog" by Friedrich, whose foggy background can be found on every wall. To this work, the boys wanted to add many other quotes to important works, including "Radiant Boys" by Keith Hering, which I know traceable on every wall.
The wall that attracts the most attention is certainly the one on which Greppi is represented at the top of the work "The Castle of the Pyrenees" by Magritte "The work of the French painter inspired us and we decided to represent our institute like a sort of flying castle. The school carries the weight of education and creativity and represents a springboard for the future" continued the boys. Among other references, we remember the quote from the work "The Disturbing Muses" by De Chirico. The boys decided to place a light bulb at the top of the column covered by a tunic, which represents culture. "Ideas arise from culture, which allow the character to see beyond the Milan skyline that we painted on the bottom of the wall, opening your mind to other horizons"
It is possible to recognize the famous work "The Lovers" by Magritte, reinterpreted in a modern key. "This work has a profound meaning, which we wanted to somehow bring back into our project. The two lovers, covered by white year, already in the French artist's work expressed the impossibility of communicating and, in ours revisiting, this lack is given by the fact that both are busy looking at their cell phones and are able to give themselves to the other" Mattia wanted to explain to us. the creator of the project.
Another reference to Magritte can be found in the representation of "The Art of Conversation", where two men are so absorbed in their conversations that they do not realize they are floating in the sky.
